Why Supplement?

One would think eating balanced meals would be all that one needs for balanced nutrition, right?

Sadly, no.

Oh, but what if one changed to a 100% organic, grass-fed, free-range and wild game foods?

It's better, but unfortunately, it's still not enough.

The degradation of vital nutrients in our soils in the past century is due to industrialization of farms (even organic farms) and changes in fertilizing practices.

"Insufficient vitamin intake is apparently a cause of chronic diseases.  Recent evidence has shown that suboptimal levels of vitamins (below standard), even well above those causing deficiency syndromes, are risk factors for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and osteoporosis.  A large portion of the general population is apparently at increased risk for this reason." ~ Dr. Robert Fletcher and Dr Kathleen Fairfield, Harvard Researchers

Better would be to have your own traditional farm in which all ecosystems work in synergy. And to not have access to "so-called food" that deplete the body of nutrients (examples):
  • sugar (paralyzes the immune system)
  • alcohol (impairs many body systems)
  • fast food (rancid oils - thickens the blood)
  • packaged foods (rancid oils, preservatives)
  • {medications}

Improper digestion is usually caused by a shock to the system, and part of that shock may be psychological (another topic for another time), or is due to a physical shock to the system of ingestion of content that was not designed for the system in the first place. 

When our body is working with degraded food, nutrients that are lost in the digestion process must be pulled from other areas of our body such as the muscles and the bones. This is how our body becomes imbalanced over a long period of time.

Supplementing provides a base foundation so the body has immediate access to nutrients it needs on the fly instead of resourcing it via atrophy.
